How Design And Visual Communication Impact The Society

HOW DESIGN AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION IMPACT THE SOCIETY

What we say interprets what we think and how we perceive the environment around us.  In our everyday life’s, we come across many posters or advertisements on television that leave an impact on us.  When we get influenced by any visual communication or design with a strong  & powerful meaning it changes the way we look at situations in the society.

In today’s world there are many advertisements and campaigns with strong social causes that support equality in race, sex and religion.

This campaign was started by “UN WOMEN” against gender equality and it aimed to show people what men expect of women and how even in today’s modern society they are not treated as equals.  This campaign leaves you thinking and makes you want to make a difference.

Benetton is a brand that believes in having powerful advertisements that fight social barriers. An example is below us, this shows that all races or colours of people are equal; an African American, an Asian, a white or even a Latin individual.

An example of a campaign that supported a very critical social issue – physical abuse. This campaign made women feel comfortable to reach out for help if they faced any abuse at home or their workplace.

This campaign started by “One Life” makes one really think and remember this poster before they get in bed with anyone!
Campaigns like this help fight the spread of HIV AIDS in the society.

The below image shows and initiative of the “WWF” which depicts thru visual communication that worlds greenery is getting over as fast as we finish tissue paper. It is simple, yet it will stay in your head till the next time you use a tissue.

Both these campaigns were on driving with full awareness and on how carelessness can lead to accidents. They both are influential and effective in changing the cautiousness in the society.

A campaign started by the reporters against CENSORSHIP, an image truly convincing it’s point and inviting you to join the campaign.

Another impressive design that provokes one to quit smoking and that has a positive impact in the society.

These moving posters were put around Washington, USA to help stop the Iraq War. In the posters they’ve written “What goes around, comes round” to reach out to the local  Americans and try to put them in the shoes of the local people in Iraq.

Another strong campaign by Benetton called “UN-HATE”, it showed famous leaders kiss and make brotherhood with each other.

How Visual Communication Impacts the Viewers

How Visual Communication Impacts the Viewers

Visual Communication in EVERYDAY LIFE

In today’s world we are impatient and have everything but TIME. When one lacks time they don’t choose with their minds, they choose with their eyes. 93% of our communication is non verbal and is already done with what our eyes tell us.

Nothing will do well today if it is not aesthetically pleasing, be it a website, product, application, movie, magazine, advertisement or newspaper.

When we go to the market and we have to choose between two juice bottles that have the same price, calories and ingredients, we will simply choose the one that looks better because of it’s packaging that strikes us.

Visual communication is being used every day in our life’s  by eye catching advertisements, campaigns or products.  Anything that is visually appealing leaves an impact in us and makes us stop and look at it once again.

The shape or design of even a technological product can make or break the success of it. If a product does not look smart, sleek, comfortable, stylish then it will look do well in the market.
WHY ARE APPLE PRODUCTS SO SUCCESSFUL?
Because they are simple, elegant & they all make a statement.

WHICH PERFUME WOULD YOU RATHER BUY?

They both are the same price, same brand & smell the same
-        I can assure you that you will buy the right one because it’s simply prettier & will    make you feel like you’ve bought something worth it.

Visual communication in magazines & newspaper helps the reader understand and interpret the content which makes it easier & interesting for the reader.

Visual communication plays a very important role for websites & applications, a website gains viewers only if it is easy to access and has shows its contents (products, images, etc) clearly in an aesthetical manner.
Applications are used every second on our smart phone & they require to have more images than text so that they are easy to access and fun to use.

Texting today has become much easier because of emoticons (emojis) which are the visual communication of texting. Instead of saying yes we send a thumbs up or instead of saying on my way we send a car emoticon.

Typography plays an important roll in visual communication as every font has a place & time to be used. Every font sets a different mood for example-

Visual Communication in Film & Animation

Look at what films deliver us - they set our imagination on fire & make our wildest thoughts or dreams come true!

Movies such as Titanic, Harry Potter, Avatar, Interstellar, 300, The Avengers have used software’s, camera tricks and many complicated techniques to deliver us the quality which is so realistic that we have no choice but to believe in the movie & the story it tells us.

Countless teens, both boys and girls, have been sharing the disturbing results of their experiments on Twitter and Instagram, which in many cases led to severe bruising around the mouth. Kylie is the most influential Kardashain today.
